Proposal to lower age range at Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre
Dear Stakeholder,
I am writing to you to take part in an important consultation being conducted by the Governing Board of Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre.
We are currently consulting on a proposal to lower the school’s age range from 3 to 7 years to 2 to 7 years, with effect from 1 September 2025. This change would enable the school to offer high-quality early childhood education places for two-year-olds, meeting growing local demand and aligning with recent national early years funding reforms.
We believe this proposal will enhance continuity in children’s early childhood education, support school readiness, and expand access to early childhood education in our local community.
We are seeking the views of all stakeholders, including parents and carers, local schools and early years providers, education professionals, and representatives from the local authority.
