In 2023, 67.7% of our reception pupils achieved the good level of development at the end of the early years foundation stage, compared to 61.1% of pupils locally and 67.3% of pupils nationally.

Statutory phonics screening check

Assessed at the end of Year One and - for some pupils - Year Two

In 2023, 90% of our year one pupils achieved the expected standard in the phonics screening check at the end of year one, compared to 74.3% of pupils locally and 78.9% of pupils nationally.

Key stage one outcomes: expected standard

Assessed at the end of Year Two through a combination of statutory assessment tests and teacher assessments

In 2023:

  • 83.3% of our year two pupils achieved the expected standard in reading at the end of key stage one, compared to 64.6% of pupils locally and 68.0% of pupils nationally
  • 76.6% of our year two pupils achieved the expected standard in writing at the end of key stage one, compared to 53.4% of pupils locally and 60.0% of pupils nationally
  • 83.3% of our year two pupils achieved the expected standard in mathematics at the end of key stage one, compared to 66.2% of pupils locally and 70.0% of pupils nationally
  • 85.0% of our year two pupils achieved the expected standard in science at the end of key stage one, compared to 71.2% of pupils locally and 79.0% of pupils nationally
  • 76.7% of our year two pupils achieved the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics combined at the end of key stage one, compared to 50.7% of pupils locally

In 2023:

  • 43.3% of our year two pupils achieved the higher standard in reading at the end of key stage one, compared to 17.5% of pupils locally and 19.0% of pupils nationally
  • 28.3% of our year two pupils achieved the higher standard in writing at the end of key stage one, compared to 7.0% of pupils locally and 8.0% of pupils nationally
  • 38.3% of our year two pupils achieved the higher standard in mathematics at the end of key stage one, compared to 14.9% of pupils locally and 16.0% of pupils nationally
  • 26.7% of our year two pupils achieved the higher standard in reading, writing and mathematics combined at the end of key stage one, compared to 5.9% of pupils locally
