Children attending Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre can engage, learn and develop in a cutting-edge learning environment.
The school has been extensively refurbished in recent years and houses four spacious key stage one classrooms and an Early Childhood Education Centre consisting of and our nursery building. We also operate a purpose-built SEND Base for some of our pupils with an education, health and care plan and others who require a more bespoke education model.
All pupils attending our Early Childhood Education Centre have continuous access to our bespoke early years outdoor learning environment, enabling us to facilitate an increasingly flexible approach to teaching our youngest pupils. Our Early Childhood Education Garden and Outdoor Classroom includes features such as a river bed, giant water wall, a texture kitchen, a stage, a sit-in sandpit, a play tower and large construction area, an elevated tree house and a bike and trike riding zone.

Every child has access to our Immersive Learning Centre which enables us to facilitate an increasingly flexible and experiential approach to the way we teach your child in all areas of their learning. We are the only school in Luton to have these state-of-the art facilities which enable us to ‘take’ your children to previously impossible places in their learning; from an enchanted forest to a tiger-dwelling jungle to being chased by Vikings or swimming with dolphins! Complete with its own spectacular interactive floor, our Immersive Learning Centre has the ability to quite simply become anywhere or anything imaginable.
Our central school hall is used for assemblies, drama, physical education lessons, school productions and concerts, as well as for meetings and other social events. The other main use is as a dining room where children come together to enjoy delicious hot meals provided by our on-site catering team. We highly value this time and believe the atmosphere of purposeful activity and social interaction is of immense value to all members of our school community.
The school is built on one level and has an accessible toilet and changing facility to ensure accessibility for all children.
We are fortunate to have such extensive outdoor spaces. All children have access to an excellent playing field and a hard-surface area within the school grounds. An adventure trail with an all-weather safety surface provides an exciting additional play facility, which – coupled with our multi-use games area, running track, summer house, and willow structure – make for a varied and stimulating outdoor environment where all children can find their own space, yet still be provided with challenges as they grow. The school hosts a play tower and climbing zone containing climbing frames and scramble nets to develop pupils’ climbing skills and core body strength.
