Our Equality Duties

Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre aims to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that meets the needs of all children and promotes their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. We are committed to equality and reflecting and valuing diversity in all that we do.

As defined by the Equality Act 2010, as a public authority we must have due regard to the need to eliminate discrimination, harassment, victimisation, and any other conduct prohibited under the Act; advance equality of opportunity between people who share a relevant protected characteristic and those who do not; and foster good relations between people who share a relevant protected characteristic and those who do not.

As a school, we also have two specific duties under the Equality Act 2010. We must publish information demonstrating how we have had due regard to the inequalities identified by the Act, and we must publish at least one equality objective and report annually on the progress made towards achieving it.
