Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre operates a SEND Base known as Willow. This provision supports some pupils with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan, as well as others who benefit from a more personalised approach to learning.
Willow provides a bespoke educational model designed to help our early years pupils achieve their academic and social potential. Each pupil follows an individualised timetable and education programme, developed collaboratively by staff and parents or carers through the child’s Personalised Support Plan (PSP). These plans are tailored to each pupil’s individual and developmental needs and are regularly reviewed and adapted as the pupil develops. Pupils also benefit from access to specialist technologies that support communication, as well as the development of early reading and writing skills.
Willow is a small, inclusive provision located within our Early Childhood Education Centre, providing seamless opportunities for child-initiated play and learning. The provision has its own external entrance and is thoughtfully designed and equipped to support pupils with a range of additional needs. These may include, but are not limited to, autism, speech and language difficulties, and challenges with social interaction. Support within Willow is needs-led and tailored to each pupil’s individual and developmental needs, rather than being determined by diagnosis or chronological age.
Pupils attending Willow are supported by qualified Class Teachers and SEND Educators who work closely with mainstream staff to develop personalised programmes aligned with both the curriculum and each pupil’s Personalised Support Plan (PSP).
