Transferring to Junior School

Year 3 and beyond

At the end of Key Stage One, when they are seven years old, all pupils transfer from Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre to a junior school or primary school.

As Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre shares a campus with Someries Junior School, the majority of our pupils continue their education there. However, transfer is not automatic. All admissions to community junior and primary schools within the Local Authority are administered centrally by Luton Council’s School Admissions department. Parents and carers must therefore apply for a junior school or primary school place during the academic year in which their child is in Year Two, in accordance with the published admissions timetable and application deadlines.
