Inclusive by Design: Strengthening SEND Provision Across the Curriculum
This comprehensive training package offers participants a practical and strategic overview of how to embed inclusive, high-quality teaching for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the whole-school curriculum.
A key feature of the session is our school’s unique Trailblazer approach—a progressive model designed to support the successful integration of pupils accessing our SEND Bases into mainstream provision. Participants will explore how this approach promotes personalised, well-managed transitions, and how it enables pupils to flourish within a wider curriculum offer while receiving the targeted support they need.
Throughout the session, participants will work with our school’s Adaptive Teaching Guides, which offer practical, easy-to-implement strategies for meeting a range of learning needs. These guides will be used to explore how adaptive teaching can be thoughtfully planned, flexibly delivered, and effectively monitored to ensure pupils with SEND access ambitious, meaningful learning.
The training will also include a focus on supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, with guidance on strategies that promote emotional regulation, positive relationships, and a safe, supportive learning environment. Participants will gain insight into how to build an inclusive classroom culture that fosters both academic progress and personal wellbeing.
In addition, we’ll explore how to implement graduated support, plan personalised provision, and work collaboratively with families and professionals in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
A guided learning walk will offer the opportunity to see inclusive practice in action, including how adaptive strategies and the Trailblazer model are being applied to meet diverse learner needs across the school.
This session is ideal for SENCOs, teachers, support staff, and school leaders looking to enhance their provision and ensure every pupil can thrive through inclusive, ambitious, and well-integrated support.
Cost of this training: £350 per school or group of schools (maximum 10 participants per session)
Course length: Half-day
