Forest School

At Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre, we have a bespoke Forest School area situated on our school site. Throughout Forest School sessions, pupils spend time exploring the natural world around them and develop skills to support our science and design technology curricula.

During sessions delivered by our Forest School Leader, pupils are taught a range of skills which they can utilise during their exploratory play and develop their knowledge of the flora and fauna of our local environment.

Forest School provides pupils with the opportunity to manage risks in a controlled environment and this is extremely beneficial for pupils’ mental health, wellbeing and self-regulation skills.

Through activities such as den building, creating natural transient art and hunting for insects in our Forest School area, pupils have opportunities to work as a team and cooperate with others, whilst also developing our school’s twelve core values.
